Kid Cudi

Heard this for the first time tonight on Ratatat/Jay-Z/Notorious radio (www.last.fm). This is one that may or may not end up being on repeat for a little while in my apt. For me, this song came in like a lamb and out like a lion in terms of how much I liked it. To say Cudi's unique would probably be an understatement, especially considering his real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi and is of Native American-African American-Mexican descent. According to Wikipedia, he was inspired by Tribe Called Quest (personal fav), dropped out of college to pursue music in Brooklyn NY, and is now starring in the new HBO comedy series How to Make it in America, produced by Mark Wahlberg.

Happy Friday

some old school Wu-Tang Corp ...and some weekend game pointers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91hMXwZrh7c

With, in my opinion, the underrated Busta Rhymes

The Wu-Tang Clan are a New York City-based hip-hop group, which consists of: RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard. They were formed in (and are associated with) the New York City borough of Staten Island.

On a side note, a lot of us have also found ourselves talking about "game" recently-- the art of the pick up. What's the secret? Well, for all the men, here's an interesting article that proposes (pretty scientifically) that even just the sound of your voice may play a role in whether or not we'll drink the cool-aid.

I've recently been getting into RJD2 quite a bit and for those of you who haven't heard of him, check him out. Hes done some largely instrumental hip hop albums and does some great remixes.

This is probably my favorite RJD2 song... so far.

Oldie Goodie

Here's an old classic that will make you feel happy to be alive. Of course, I had to start the thread with something that everyone can blast and sing along with. Honestly, I think Toots & the Maytals, with their notoriously well-blended voices, surpass the original (by John Denver). The Toots and the Maytals were pivotal at the inception of Reggae Ska music and hold the record for most number one hits in Jamaica (31 hits).

Just copy and paste this link.
